Some projects

I do a lot of things to help pass the time. I clean (a lot!) and I've started reading more (there's a book group in our ward that meets monthly) and I"ve been doing crafty things. Here are a few of them:

Baby Dresses...no, I'm not announcing anything but they're so cute I can't help myself!

PJs for Hultz...the fabric is so sweet!
These are magnets. We had an Enrichment activity where we did all kinds of crafty things for Christmas and I made these.

These are the other projects I did at Enrichment. They were really easy and look super cute!

Short update with cute pictures

Well, I couldn't resist... I was at Target a few weeks ago getting the 10 things on my list and really sticking to it when I saw these cute slippers for Hultz. I bought them a size larger than what he wears now, rationalizing that he could get a lot of use out of them that way. :)
I'm afraid when I see this picture of Hultz that he's a bit OCD like me...He's lined up all of his toys on the edge of the tub. Then he goes back and knocks them each back into the tub.

Hultz climbed in to an empty box and was very happy. I think he stayed in it 20 minutes. He has some zoo animal figures that he loves. He was even making some growling noises...

Showing the tiger who was boss.

Hultz's teeth found Jon's head a few nights ago. This is what it looks like a week later... :)

UAMS Graduate School Students Receive NIH Fellowships

Yeah Jon! OCT. 31 2007 Two students in the UAMS Graduate School recently received fellowships from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Jonathan Hubbard, a medical/doctoral degree candidate (M.Dhttp://www.uams.edu/update/absolutenm/Ph.D.) in the pharmacology lab of Michael Owens, Ph.D., received a National Research Service Award pre-doctoral fellowship from the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the NIH. He said his research and grant submission entitled “Antibody Antagonists as Protective Medications for Drug Abuse During Pregnancy” grew out of the Siloam Springs-area native’s interest in helping others.

Hubbard said a two-year mission trip to the Philippines while an undergraduate at the University of Arkansas impressed upon him the importance of service and initiated his interest in medicine. Having also gotten intrigued in research during college, he said he decided medical research was the best way to combine both.

“Dr. Owens has a very active lab and his research is translational in nature – seeking to turn basic research into new treatments for major public health concerns, which is to me what makes medical research satisfying,” Hubbard said.

Ward Fall Festival... A day with the Animals (no, not the Young Men)

Our Ward Fall Festival was Saturday. Hultz's favorite part was the petting zoo. He couldn't get enough of the animals. Thankfully Jon didn't mind taking him in the pens to play with the animals. I enjoyed taking pictures much more!

Here he is trying out the shetlan pony:

Checking out the pig. At one point, he got a finger in the pig's nose. Yuck.

He really liked the cow. Grandpa Hubbard would be impressed.

He really liked the chickens. He kept calling them birds.

Feeding the goats.

On our way home with a balloon. He was pretty tired out!

Halloween- Boo at the Zoo

Hultz was a lion for Halloween. I thought about making him a costume, but I found this online and it was cheaper than making it...and it took about 3 minutes to order. :) He really liked wearing the costume. In fact, Tuesday we went to story hour at the library and he wouldn't take it off so he wore it there. Everyone loved it. He didn't like the hood part that much. This was the best picture of the costume all night.

Hultz rode in style around the Zoo. He was pretty interested by everyone's costumes.
They had camel rides but we opted to just watch from a safe distance. This was Hultz's favorite part of the night.
We went to the zoo with our friends the Dixons. Anna & Hultz rode in our wagon. Tyler followed in a stroller. They had fun being together. This is a picture of our little caravan.

Hultz really liked his sucker.

Sharing the sucker with Dad.

We had a lot of fun!

Checking out the loot after we got home... Don't worry- I will probably eat it all!
